I read this and was very happy. I live in westchester although I didn’t loose power – my job has been basically destroyed and I will be out if work for 2 wks. It sucks, I go by my job everyday to stay updated on whats going on. Which translate to no money. I asked a FEMA worker if they were able to help me, unto which I was told that my job has insurence and they would have to pay me. So being excited about that I still sit here with pretty much no food in the house. There is enough for my son, I have survived off day old bagels and tea. LOTS of tea. But I make this a positive as much as I can. I have been able to read through a lot of information I had laying around the house, finished up some art projects, updated my BOS.
The reason for the comment is that yes there are people who have lost everything, there are those who had little and now have less. We have gone from working poor to have nothing poor. Please remember us as well.

Hi Rebekah,

Thank you for this. I spoke with Peter about 100% for Haiti. While I know they do great work with the school they’ve established, I feel there are more immediate needs right now with all the people being displaced once again – temporary shelters are now all washed away. I would love to find a group helping with food, housing, and medicine. (MSF is a great group, too, but there is no way to get money to Haiti in particular through them.) If you hear of anything else, I would greatly appreciate it.

You may already be aware of the NGO our friend, Mandy Thody, started in Haiti – “100% to Haiti”. (Peter is/was on the board). They have done amazing things with very little money and almost nothing in administrative costs. You should be able to find them in a web search or write me if you need more contact info.
